Defining the outdoors

With the summery hot and humid days this year in Ontario, why would one choose to stay inside?
We get 6 months of cold icy weather knee and deep snow so the warmth of the sun is a welcome visitor.
This year with the ongoing renovations I decided it was time to bring the indoors out. By that I wanted to start defining my tiny yard to be more functional and create the feeling of multi-purpose spaces.
Here is an old photo of when I started this project. Grass in shortage and dying everytime those four furry paws water the grass.

An idea popped into my head to eliminate the green and create a space specfic washroom for the furry ones. With the addition of stone diy, hard labor and cost savings we managed to create two additional rooms outdoors last year.
This year came around and with the summer clearance sales I picked up a gazebo. This was an awesome 8x8 steel gazebo from Rona for 99$ which fit the deck perfectly. Added last year sale Umbra lounge patio set, a few accessories; pillows, laterns and drum stool, my outdoor living room was complete.

I couldnt stop there, I still felt that the stone patio space was under utilized.

Room number two became outdoor dining space thanks to Canadian Tire sale on the Cabana series patio furniture complete with a 6 foot tall, 9 foot wide umbrella. I added the seat cushions from Home Depot
which were on sale as well.

With the two rooms complete I am finally ready to entertain future guests and my furries seem to enjoy it as well.

You know you've turned suburban when.....

You're mucho excited about getting a brand spanking new deck for your backyard.
Tear down of the dangerous (boards sticking up, nails popping, cracked boards, spiderwebbed, dirty slick and wet) deck starts today. Monday, brand spanking new wood deck designed to suit my tastes and my yard. Im frigging stoked. Now that I'm getting a new deck it means saftey for the kiddies (aka dogs) and safety for friends and family. My biggest fear was having someone come over and fall thru the deck or step on the boards only to have the board shoot up and hit them in the face kinda like that Simpson episode where Sideshow bobs keeps stepping on rakes only to have them hit him in the face. LOL!
